Fellow (1 September 1987 – 31 July 1988)
During 1987-1988 I completed a book entitled Models and Mirrors: Towards an Anthropology of Public Events. In this volume I develop a comparative perspective on a wide variety of public occasions, ranging from ‘rituals’ to ‘festivals’, from religious occasions to secular ones, and from those in traditional societies to those in modern ones.
