During my stay at NIAS, I took the opportunity to build on two earlier historical monographs of mine and to contribute to the broader debate on the rise of the World Market Economy in relation to South and Southeast Asia. I worked on a book with the provisional title Creative Commercial Minorities and the Rise of the World Market Economy in South and Southeast Asia.
