LOUIS COUPERUS AND THE MIDDLE AGES

The work on the research project “Louis Couperus and the Middle Ages” that I carried out at NIAS comes for the most part down to the reading and systematic study of the complete works of the Dutch author Louis Couperus (1863-1923). As I have seven months left of my sabbatical, I hope to finish my book on Couperus in 2011.

In addition I wrote De Bocca della Verità te Rome in literatuur en beeldende kunst, to be published in 2010 by Teylers Museum (Haarlem) as an illustrated booklet and edited two books. The first was Early Modern Medievalisms: The Interplay between Scholarly Ref-lection and Artistic Production, eds. Wim van Anrooij, Alicia Montoya, Sophie van Romburg. Leiden: Brill Publishers, 2010 (in press). The second was Frank Willaert, De ruimte van het boek. Literaire regio’s in de Lage Landen tijdens de Middeleeuwen, Leiden: Stichting Neerlandistiek Leiden, 2010 (in press).
