Déclin des Langues et Convergence Linguistique dans le Bassin Central Congolais

Language Decline and Linguistic Convergence in the Congo Central Basin. The paper focuses on the phenomena of language decline and linguistic convergence as experienced in the Congo central basin for about three centuries, that is to say from Ngɔmbɛ and Mɔngɔ invasions. The aim is to describe the rapid evolution of the sociolinguistic situation in the region by tracing the factors and mechanisms that contributed to it by following the concrete situation of the affected areas. These factors, which are both ancient and recent, are universally known: depopulation, submersion by immigrants numerically superior, geographical mobility, Europeanization, wars, cultural and/or economic domination, exogamy, language attitudes, linguistic homogenization, etc.
