Who is Gerard Peter Coen? He obtained a BA French & English from the National University of Ireland, Galway, and an MSc in Communications, Advertising and PR from Ulster University – with pitstops in India and Canada along the way. He then worked in Marketing at Unilever, London, and also L’Oréal, Paris, followed by Communications work in the creative industries in Mexico City. Driven by curiosity around the impact of emerging technologies on society, in 2017 he began studying the MSc Innovation Sciences (STS) program, at the Faculty of Geosciences, Utrecht University. Shortly afterwards becoming a member of the Research & Innovation Group at Data Archiving and Networked Services (DANS), later joining the Research Data Expert Team.
Gerry has many interests, among which, semiotics, semantics, and hypermodernism. He is glad to have found a new place to ‘Belong’ as part of the team at the NIAS since the beginning of 2022 and excited to be a part of the journey of so many exceptional people.
