Cardiovascular Risk Age and its Correspondence with Lifetime Cardiovascular Risk among Women

Research Question

1. Does the risk age remains similar regardless of the cardiovascular outcome?

2. What is the distribution of risk age and the lifetime cardiovascular risk among women?

3. How does the age gap correspond with lifetime risk prediction among women?

4. How does the age gap correspond with future cardiovascular events among women?

Project Description

Prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD) among women remains suboptimal. A substantial group of women have a low risk for developing CVD in short-term but are nevertheless at high risk for developing CVD in their lifetime. There value of the two new concepts of risk age and lifetime cardiovascular risk among women has not been investigated in detail. In this project, I aim to understand how the two concepts of risk age and lifetime CVD risk are related. Meaningful interpretation of these two concepts will allow for their use as effective measures for risk communication between physicians and individuals in primary prevention settings.
