Johann-Christian Klamt, born in Berlin, Germany, in 1941. Ph.D. from the Freie Universität Berlin. Professor of Art History at Utrecht University.

Fellow (1 September 1992 - 30 June 1993)

The topic of my research during the NIAS year was the seven-stories-high 'Mathematical Tower' ('Mathematische Turm') of the Benedictine Abbey of Kremsmünster in Upper Austria (built between 1748 and 1759), which represents one of the few still existing examples in which a museum and an astronomical observatory had been combined.
