Fawcett, J.T.

James Fawcett

James Fawcett, born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, in 1935. Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. Associate Professor of Psychology and Population Studies at the University of Hawaii, Honolulu.

Fellow (1 September 1990 - 30 June 1991)

During my stay at NIAS I completed the major portion of a book manuscript on international migration, which was my primary goal for this year. I developed a migration systems model that is the core theoretical contribution of the book, designed and carried out a series of empirical analyses that follow from the model, and interpreted the results with reference both to scientific understanding of international migration processes and to public policy concerns.
