Sushil Chaudhury

Sushil Chaudhury, born in Sultanpur, Chittagong, Bangladesh, in 1937. Ph.D. from the University of London. Professor of History at the University of Calcutta.

Fellow (1 September 1990 - 31 July 1991)

During my stay at NIAS, I was able to complete writing up my book. The main focus is an in-depth analysis of the textile and raw silk trade and industries in Bengal before the province was conquered by the British in 1757 as also to quantify and compare the volume of the British and Dutch exports from Bengal to Europe during the first half of the eighteenth century.
